10 Places to Go This Fall Season

10 Places to Go This Fall Season

The change of the seasons is in the air! The holidays can be so fun and exciting. It’s a time when family traditions are formed. I just love the cooler weather and beautiful changing colors of the leaves.  I especially love the holiday events that take place around the community.  In this post I will be sharing with you 10 fun places that you can go, in the Inland Empire and surrounding communities, with your family and friends this fall season.

1. An activity that my family loves to do each year is, traveling to Oak Glen, California.  This lovely mountainside view takes you back to the beauty of country life. Each farm can offer so many fun and exciting activities to do. You can pick apples from the orchard, press and drink fresh cider, visit the many petting zoos, picnic on the green, and country shop until your heart’s content. If you love taking your family to pick pumpkins from a pumpkin patch, you can do that here as well. Here is the link for their website.

2. If you haven’t visited the Live Oak Canyon Pumpkin Patch you are missing out! It is located in Yucaipa, California and is such a fun place to take the whole family. The pumpkins can be a little pricy (we usually get ours a Trader Joe’s). It’s filled with pumpkins ready for the picking, games, rides, mazes, and more. One particular thing my family did one year was visit their petting zoo. They had a charming bird house to walk through; with all kinds of different types of birds roaming around. My kids especially enjoyed the pony ride! If your family is on a budget it is important to plan ahead. You must purchase tickets before going on the rides or playing games. They do offer some reasonable packaged deals on tickets and wristbands. It is free admission during the weekdays (Tues/Wed/Thur) and $5 dollars on the weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun). Right now they have special late hours for the month of October. Here is the link to their site.

3.  The whole month of October, the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park lets kids go for free! What?!? Yup! I just said, kids go for free!  San Diego is promoting their, kids go free with 100+ partnered deals all month-long! Here is the link for San Diego’s October promotions. The zoo is one of those deals that shouldn’t be missed. So, if you didn’t get the opportunity to take your kids to the zoo this summer, now is your chance! Children 11 and younger get in free with paid admission of an adult. Adult tickets (12yr and older) start at $52 dollars before check out. Here is the link to the zoo and Safari Park here.

4. While you are in San Diego you might want to head over to Sea World.  If you’re like me and haven’t been there in years, this might be the deal for you. They are promoting the same deal as the San Diego Zoo. The terms and conditions are a bit different. The ages are 3 – 11yr and it’s a 1:1 ratio. That means for each paid adult one child will be admitted to the park for free. For the kids free offer a full adult ticket of $89.99 must be payed. The adult ticket is for ages 10 plus. If you’re interested in taking them up on this months deal, here is the link.

5. If watching Halloween movies is your thing, then you will love going and watching an outdoor movie at Victoria Gardens. They will be showing the classic Holloweentown, this Tuesday, October 17th and it begins at dusk. This is a FREE event in Rancho Cucamonga, California. It will be held at Chaffey Town Square. Then again on October 24th they will be showing the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. They encourage you to come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume. There will be a raffle before each movie and activities for the kids. How awesome is that?! Bring your blankets and folding chairs.  For any questions, the number for guest services is (909)463-2830 and Here is the Facebook link for the event.

     6. Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles is a beautiful place to visit. This cultural experience isn’t one you would want to miss! Although I haven’t been there in years, I would highly recommend it! There is so much to explore and the food is delicious. Olvera Street makes you feel like you are walking down the streets of Mexico. Every year they have a celebration for the Day of the Dead (Dia De Los Muertos), an ancient Mexican ceremony for the remembrance of loved ones who have passed. You can reserve an altar space for your family by simply filling out an application form on their site here. This event will be running October 25th – November 2nd. If you are interested in attending this event they just posted it to their Facebook page here.

7. If you aren’t already a fan of Palm Springs, there is another reason to love it! You can come and visit the Escape Room Palm Springs. To escape from the room you have to find and share clues, and solve puzzles with other people in your room to get out. There are multiple rooms you can book such as: Jack the Ripper, Vampire’s Lair,  Titanic Room, and Merlin’s School. Each room cost $33 dollars and ranges from 2 – 10 people per room. This new and exciting adventure has great reviews, 424 people rated it five stars! Here is the link to their website.

 8. One of my favorite places to visit is Knott’s Berry Farm! I have so many good memories here. One of those memories is a little on the scary side and that’s because every October Knott’s Berry Farm turns into Knotts Scary Farm. If you are faint of heart I wouldn’t suggest going. This can be quite a scary experience! As soon as you enter the park you are greeted by scary figures who don’t know what personal boundary’s are. They will come right up to your face and scare you any chance they get. Some even ride around on roller skates and boards and pretend to grab you as they skate down low along the ground. It would be hard to anticipate the next scare with the darkness and fog all around. This years theme is, Where Nightmares Never End. Some of this years attractions are: The Hallow, The Red Barn, Special Ops: Infected, Pumpkin Eater, and Paranormal Inc. Admission starts as low as $42 dollars. This event runs until October 31st. Hurry, this fall Halloween event sells out fast! You can find the link for tickets here.

9. Another Los Angeles hot spot is, The Queen Mary.  Each Halloween season The Queen Mary is turned into the Dark Harbor. If you are looking to get scared this Halloween this is the place to go! This event started September 28th and ends November 1st. Pricing varies on dates and tickets sell out quickly. There are many monstrous mazes, live internment, attractions, food and drinks. They have new parking options this year. You can choose to park at the Aquarium of The Pacific Parking Structure and then take the Dark Harbor Express, operated by the Aqua Link, to the Queen Mary. It’s $3.00 dollars an hour for parking or a flat fee of $16 dollars per vehicle. The Dark Harbor ticket pricing varies depending on what day you go and what kind of ticket you purchase. Some tickets start at $24 dollars. They offer a variety of packages for groups and individuals. You can check out their page here.

10. On Halloween day, if you are looking for a free Halloween event, downtown Redlands, California residences put on an amazing Halloween display! On the cross streets of Olive Ave and the 500 block of Cajon Street, residents decorate their homes. House after house are decked out with Halloween decorations. From the tops of their roofs to the rim of their fences. Some homes are themed. One year we encountered a home that was made to look like a large pirate ship. If your kids are candy junkies the lines for trick or treating are long, so you aren’t able to hit as many homes.  I would then recommend you do your trick or treating in other places and then come here to enjoy the music, food, and family friendly atmosphere. Keep an eye on your little ones, it draws a large crowd. The event starts at sundown and it’s quit a sight to see! Check out the details for this event and other Halloween events in downtown Redlands here.

Halloween decorations are displayed at a home on the corner of Cypress Circle and Cypress Ave. near Cajon St. in Redlands, Ca., Friday, October 28, 2016. Halloween on Cajon St. draws thousands of trick-or-treaters from all over the county annually. (Photo by John Valenzuela/Redlands Daily Facts)

I hope you find something fun for you and your family to do this fall! That you were able to read about something new and exciting to do. Not all these places are part of my family traditions, but some of them are. The ones that are, we love and are dear to me and my family. By me providing information on these fun and exciting places, my hopes  are that you get to build up your own holiday family traditions.

Yours,

Suzie
